Known for his landscape and nature prints, Ando Hiroshige is recognized as one of the predominant printmakers in the first half of the 19th century. Hiroshige used Utagawa Hiroshige for his "artist name," taken from the famous Utagawa painting school he attended. A highly prolific artist, Hiroshige created over 5400 prints during his life.
