Are there any special long-term care instructions for hand colored prints?
1. What is a hand colored print?
A hand colored print is a black and white print that has been individually colored by an artist using high quality watercolor paints. The artist uses layers of paint to bring depth and vibrancy to the colors. Our selection of hand colored prints are painted using traditional techniques that give each piece a rich, higher quality look usually associated with original art.
2. What is meant by the term 'acid-free'?
Acid-free paper or canvas has been treated to neutralize its natural acidity in order to protect fine art and photographic prints from discoloration and deterioration.
3. Why are hand colored prints more expensive than other prints on the site?
The premium price of hand colored prints is related to the individual attention each print receives during the coloring process and the exceptionally high quality of these prints. Typically, the more manually intensive the printing and coloring processes are, the more each hand colored print will cost.
4. Do you frame hand colored prints in the same way as regular posters & prints?
No. To preserve and protect the value of a hand colored print, we have developed a special custom framing process to preserve the beauty and quality of your print. Our specialist print framers are certified by the Professional Picture Framers Association and use conservation framing practices and materials unless otherwise specified by the customer.
5. Are there significant quality differences between these types of prints?
Hand colored prints are a very high quality print that has been printed on an conservation quality paper and painted by hand using the highest quality materials. However, there may be some minor variation in each hand colored print since each print is individually colored by an artist by hand.
6. Why does it take longer to get my hand colored print than it does to get a poster?
We order each hand colored print immediately after a customer places an order. Therefore, we must take into account the time it takes an artist to hand-paint your print, as well as the shipping time. In the event that you choose to have us frame your hand colored print, we must also allow time to custom frame your print to your exact specifications.
7. Can you frame a hand colored print that I already have if I send it to you?
No. We do not provide framing services for pre-owned prints. All of our framing materials are custom- fitted to prints we provide.
8. Why should I have my hand colored print framed at Art.com rather than my local frame shop?
It's your choice. If you have a trustworthy relationship with a frame shop, you may prefer to receive your hand colored print unframed and take it to your framer. However, framing at Art.com offers you the same high-quality materials and craftsmanship you would find at a reputable frame shop. In addition, you get the convenience of one-stop shopping, 24 hours a day, as well as attractive pricing that beats most local frame shops. Our certified professional framing specialists follow strict framing guidelines to ensure that your custom frame will protect and display your hand colored print beautifully for years to come. And as always, Art.com offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
9. Are there any special long-term care instructions for hand colored prints?
Generally, hand colored prints require the same care that you would give any other quality print. Keep your hand colored print out of direct sunlight and the color will continue to be rich and vibrant for decades to come.
