1. What is a wood mounted print?

A wood mounted print is a print that has been mounted to a rigid 3/8" thick wood fiber board and then laminated with a UV filtering film. The lamination film provides protection against fading, fingerprints and other contaminates. The edges of the board are beveled and then colored black.

2. What can and cannot be wood mounted?

Prints and posters are ideal for wood mounting. However, wood mounting is permanent, so once a print or poster is wood mounted, it cannot be undone. Collectible or valuable items should not be wood mounted.

3. Why would I want to have a print or poster wood mounted instead of framed?

It's really a matter of what appeals to you. Wood mounting is an attractive alternative to framing when a clean, simple yet elegant look is desired.

4. Are wood mounted prints heavy?

A wood mounted print weighs about the same as a similar size wooden frame with glazing.

5. Do wood mounted prints require special care and handling?

You should care for your wood mounted print as you would any framed print. Use a soft cotton cloth lightly misted with either glass cleaner or water for wiping the surface. Do not apply the liquid cleaner directly onto the print or the backing board. Avoid using paper towels as they can leave scratches. As with any other framed item, avoid hanging wood mounted prints in moist environments.

6. Does it cost extra to ship a wood mounted print?

No. The shipping costs are the same as a framed print.

7. How does the lamination film in wood mounting compare to glass or acrylic?

The lamination film used in wood mounting is of excellent quality, just like the glass and acrylic we use in our standard framing process. The lamination film is a clear, reflective control film that maintains color brightness and image clarity while reducing glare.

8. Is wood mounting expensive?

No. Wood mounting is a cost effective way to attractively display your prints and posters.
