Michael FARADAY
One of the greatest experimenters in the field of electricity, Michael Faraday is best known for his discovery of electromagnetic induction and the laws of electrolysis. He is also viewed as the inventor of the electric motor, generator, and transformer.

1791 Michael Faraday is born on September 22 in London, England.
1805 - Apprentices with bookbinder George Riebau. Faraday eagerly reads all science-related material that passes through Riebau's shop.
1810 - Joins the City Philosophical Society, where he discusses scientific matters with other interested young men and women.
1813-1815 - Hired as assistant to the Royal Institute's Humphry Davy, Britain's greatest chemist at the time, Faraday takes part in an 18-month science tour of Europe.
1821 - Creates the first electric motor.
1825 - Discovers the chemical benezene. Becomes the director of the lab at the Royal Institute.
1826 - Begins the Christmas Lectures, an annual series of talks and experiments that continue today, intended to popularize science and technology for young people.
1831 - Creates both a transformer and an electrical generator.
1858 - Retires to a house provided by Queen Victoria, out of appreciation for Faraday's many accomplishments.
1867 Faraday dies August 25 in Hampton Court, England.
