            Like a rarely glimpsed, mythological creature, a wondrous moose drifts through the deep, snowy stillness of Stephen Lyman’s “A Walk in the Woods.” Lyman (1962 – 1996) was a wilderness explorer who specialized in painting nature’s subtle, elusive moments. Lyman first heard the call of the wild while hiking the Pacific Northwest’s Snake River during his childhood. Initially a commercial illustrator in Los Angeles, he returned to his beloved wilderness to paint the wonders of the natural world, was honored at numerous art shows, and was hailed as one of the country’s top artists by “U.S. Art Magazine.”
