The elegance and refinement of Henry Clarke’s (1918-1961) fashion photography is beautifully pared to its simple and stunning essence in “Bar du Soleil, 1961” from an issue of Vogue touting stylish resort dressing for Deauville, France. Creating masterpieces of post-war fashion excess, Clarke’s work for American, British and French Vogue spanned three decades. His work was so highly regarded that his American editor often assigned the unusual distinction of shooting a 24 page spread of an exotic location for a single issue.
