        We ordered this print on canvas and it turned out beautifully. It is on a dining area wall that gets a lot of light and we wanted it to be seen without having to worry about excessive glare. We have had various copies and sizes of this print in our home for years, but this one is the best!

              The advertising poster “Asti Cinzano” by Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942) is as bubbly as the product it is advertising, with its bold color, whirlwind movement, and unbridled revelry. Creating highly effective ads which are also visually stunning, the self-taught Cappiello revolutionized the art of poster design, creating nearly 1000 works in the process. A former caricaturist, Cappiello took 19th century images and, using a “less-is-more” philosophy that is still the used by modern lithographers, made them relevant to the faster-paced 20th century world.

              Leonetto Cappiello (1875 – 1942), considered to be the father of the modern poster, revolutionized advertising and turned it into a collectible art form. Self-taught, the Italian Cappiello was originally a caricaturist who became the most significant European artist of the early 20th century by masterfully linking products with strikingly colored, contemporary, memorable images. In 40 years he created 1,000 works, including innovative posters for beverages, ballet, literature, plays, travel and music halls. Cappiello led the Art Deco movement, and set standards which are still fundamental to today’s advertising.
