              Picture looks great in my bathroom. It was the perfect size that I ordered for it. The artwork in M.C. Eschers sketching is awesome! He provides great detail when drawing the hand that is holding the globe (you can see all of the wrinkles and lines in a normal hand) His brillance of drawing what he saw in the globe including himself and his surroundings was just pure genius!

              Artist M.C. Escher reflects upon his own optical wizardry in “Hand with Globe.” Escher (1898 – 1972), a Dutch graphic artist, utilized intuitive mathematical skills and an extraordinary interpretation of implausible visual distortions to create spatial illusions, impossible buildings and repeating geometric patterns. His fascination with Italian landscapes and the intricate tiling patterns of the Moorish castles in Spain led to his division of a plane into multi-dimensions, which he applied to his depictions of spheres and other objects.

              Possessing the soul of an artist and the ingenious mind of an mathematician, world famous graphic artist M.C. Escher’s art was lauded and studied by scientists, mathematicians and crystallographers. Escher (1898-1972), a Dutchman, was himself a contradiction, disliking flat shapes as much as he disliked mathematics, yet his intrinsic knowledge inspired him to create visual ironies that defied concepts of infinity. Working with lithography, woodcutting and mezzotints, he manipulated space and geometric patterns, created implausible multi-dimension images of mathematical perfection.
