- The Artist
In the artwork of Alain Dumas, cascades of golden light pour like fine wine over female nudes, who resemble figments from a dream. Born in Marseilles, France, Dumas comes from an artistic, nonconformist family—his father was a traveling musician and his mother was formerly a showgirl. Both parents raised Dumas in a liberal environment, encouraging him to be outgoing and confident, and to freely express himself artistically. Dumas almost exclusively paints tastefully sensual nudes. His flair for convincing women to pose naked for him inspired a novel penned by his older brother.
