Young Woman with a Water Jug, c.1662 (oil on canvas), Vermeer, Jan (Johannes) (1632-75) / Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA / Giraudon / The Bridgeman Art Library This stretched canvas print is the result of sophisticated digital printing technology in which the image is printed directly onto an artist-grade, 100% cotton canvas. The canvas is then expertly stretched around 1.5" wooden bars and carefully finished with hand-painted edges. An acrylic coating protects the stunning giclee print from dust, moisture and fading. Watermark will not appear on finished product.

About the Art

Jan Vermeer (1632 – 1675) was a Dutch artist known for exceptionally realistic works and a masterly command of light. Originally creating historical and genre paintings, Vermeer’s true virtuosity lay in his ability to paint lyrical, domestic scenes imbued with such a sense of dignity and purpose that they transcended the mundane. The quality and quantity of detail in Vermeer’s art is nearly microscopic, accentuated by glittering, pearly highlights called pointillés which made his work extraordinarily lifelike. Although he only produced 35 paintings in his lifetime, Vermeer is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Dutch Golden Age.

Comments:

The poster is what I expected; the color of the mat and the frame are great. I was very disappointed in the workmanship: the poster is not pulled tight under the map and is buckling on the side, casting shadows from the front and very noticeable from the side.
