About the Artwork  
Impassioned, awe-inspiring grandeur and fervent spirituality emanate from Renaissance genius Michelangelo Buonarroti’s “The Creation of Adam,” the pinnacle of his artistic achievement which he painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. One of nine narrative scenes depicting events from Genesis, the fresco, commissioned by Pope Julius II, gloriously depicts the creative flash that transmitted life and love into Adam. Michelangelo (1475 – 1564), who used his mastery of human anatomy and movement to make the figures more lifelike, was also a sculptor, architect, poet and engineer.
