About the Artwork  
The magnificent artworks of Joseph Farquharson were his melodies and their titles were his lyrics. Often named after poetic lines from Burns, Milton, Shakespeare and Gray, Farquharson’s most famous works were exquisitely lit snowscapes dotted with sheep. Given art supplies at age 12, Farquharson (1846 – 1935) exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy just one year later. Farquharson lived in Finzean, Scotland, and based many of his remarkably realistic, detailed winter scenes on the woods and land surrounding his home. During his lifetime, Farquharson exhibited almost 400 paintings at numerous esteemed artistic societies and galleries.
