Ecce Homo Giclee Print by Antonio Ciseri at Art.com
This giclée print delivers a vivid image with maximum color accuracy and exceptional resolution. The standard for museums and galleries around the world, giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface. With the great degree of detail and smooth transitions of color gradients, giclée prints appear much more realistic than other reproduction prints. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is acid free with a smooth surface.

“Ecce Homo,” one of the most ambitious works by Italian painter Antonio Ciseri (1821 – 1891), displays the artist's meticulous attention to precisely detailed furnishings, period clothing and architecture. The painting recounts the trial of Jesus at Jerusalem’s Praetorium, helplessly bound, suffering under a crown of thorns and vulnerably stripped to the waist. Pontius Pilate, Roman governor of Judea, presents Jesus to a hostile mob, declaring “Ecce Homo!” meaning “Behold the Man!” The angry crowd, insisting they have no king but Caesar, responds by demanding Jesus’ death by crucifixion.

This is a great piece of art. Beautiful. I couldn't find a similar picture any where else. The message that it gives is great. One can ask themselves. What would I have done if I was there? Why did Jesus did this for me? Do I desrerve His sacrifice? Why did Pilate not listen to his wife telling him about her dream? Where the people calling for Jesus to be crucified the same people that welcomed Him with the palms a few days before? Why are humankind so evil? Still crucifying Jesus every day... What will all these people that were calling: "Crucify Him" would think when they see Jesus coming again in His glory in the second coming?
This piece is displayed in our formal "parlor" on an iron easel. One must comment on it due to its beauty. It is a great conversation piece for those that understand what it means, and a great learning tool for those that don't.
We are strong in our faith, but very particular with what we have in our home. This art (and all the art we have purchased here) is of the finest quality. The matting and frame work are of the highest quality.
