The Greenbrier Resort, in White Sulpher, West Virginia, has been attracting visitors since 1778, including presidents and first ladies. Following a stint as an Army Hospital during World War II, the resort reopened in 1948, with interiors updated by Dorothy Draper. Constantin Joffé took this photograph of the golf course and clubhouse at Greenbrier. It appeared in the July 1949 Vogue.
