Published July 1, 1935Hungarian actor Peter Lorre made his film debut as the spine-chilling serial killer in Fritz Lang's 'M.' Later he would be cast in similarly dark roles in such movies as 'Crime and Punishment' and 'Casablanca.' Lorre, resting his chin in his hand, his face half obscured by shadows, looks appropriately sinister in this Anton Bruehl photograph, which appeared in the July 1935 Vanity Fair. This photographic print is digitally printed on archival photographic paper resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display.
