Actress Carole Lombard's more than 40 films included The Twentieth Century; My Man Godfrey , for which she was nominated for an Oscar in 1936; and No Man of Her Own, costarring Clark Gable, who eventually became her husband. This photograph is an outtake from a shoot by Cecil Beaton for the July 1931 Vanity Fair. It shows Lombard in a moment of casual elegance, seated on a wooden beam with a fur stole draped over her lap.
