Dancer Ida Rubenstein performed the role of Salomé in the 'Dance of the Seven Veils,' choreographed by Mikhail Fokine in Paris in 1909. Rubenstein joined Diaghilev's Ballets Russes that same year. This black and white photograph, taken by Phyllis Abbé circa March 1925 for Vanity Fair magazine, was never published and appears courtesy of the Condé Nast Archives.
