Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova trained at St. Petersburg's Imperial Ballet School and rose to fame at the Maryinsky Theater. Pavlova began touring the world in 1907, bringing classic Russian ballet to popular audiences everywhere. James Abbé photographed the world famous ballerina en pointe, in costume for the ballet Don Quixote, for the December 1924 Vanity Fair.
