In this still life, two leather evening shoes with characteristic Art Deco touches, both by Vida Moore, take center stage. On the left is a high heel twisted with a gold kid strap and finished with pearl trim and a black and metallic brocade vamp. The style on the right consists of pearl kid leather with diamond-shaped silver mesh inserts and silver kid trim. Fashion photographer Edward Steichen adds interest by using light to create bold, unusual shadows and placing the two shoes on a mirror. The black and white fashion accessories photograph appeared in the June 15, 1927, Vogue.
