In this unpublished image, which was to accompany a feature story that ran in the May 1, 1943, Vogue, a model stands on a flagstone patio near a swimming pool. Photographer John Rawlings captures her from inside the house, which is owned by Mr. and Mrs. LeRay Berdeau and is located in Palm Beach, Florida. She wears a blossom-pink cotton summer dress from Bonwit Teller, which she pairs with sunglasses. Rawlings created more than 200 Vogue and Glamour covers, in addition to thousands of feature photographs, during his mid-20th-century tenure with the magazines.
