Model Jean Patchett is shown front and center in this springtime photograph by John Rawlings, which appeared in the May 15, 1950, Vogue. She is seated among vases of pink and white carnations, the various shades of which govern the work as a whole. She wears a pink open-neck linen dress with a wide-lapel collar, paired with a matching white skirt endowed with pink brocade. Her crimson lips and nails provide pops of color. Rawlings created more than 200 Vogue and Glamour covers, in addition to thousands of feature photographs, during his 30 years with the magazines.
