Charlie Chaplin came to the attention of film producer Mack Sennett while performing in a vaudeville show in New York. Chaplin went on to work for several studios before founding the United Artists with D.W. Griffiths, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, taking control of all aspects of his films, including 'The Kid,' 'The Gold Rush,' and 'The Great Dictator.'
