Royal Portrush Golf Club started in Antrim County, Ireland, in 1888 and took its present name in 1895, under the patronage of the Prince of Wales. Harry Colt redesigned this course, another credited to Old Tom Morris, which hosted the first championship game in Ireland in 1895 and is the only club outside of Great Britain to host the British Open. The course unfolds along the cliffs above the Atlantic, as seen in this image taken by Stephen Szurlej, Senior Staff Photographer, Golf Digest. The course was ranked No. 4 on Golf Digest's Greatest Courses Outside the U.S. 2007-08.
