Alice Brayton's topiary animals on her Portsmouth, Rhode Island, estate were captured by Horst P. Horst for the December 1983 cover of House & Garden. Alice's father, Thomas, bought the estate in 1872, and had the topiary menagerie created and named the estate Green Animals. The garden is now one of the oldest topiary gardens in the U.S., and the estate and gardens are managed by the Preservation Society of Newport County.
This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface.
