Product Details

This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.

About the Art

Jessie Wilcox-Smith, known for affectionate portraits of endearingly innocent, carefree children, began her career as a kindergarten teacher. When she was 20 years old, Wilcox-Smith (1863 – 1935) was pressured into taking an art class and discovered that she had an aptitude for drawing. Motivated by her success, she pursued a formal art education and became an advertising artist for “Ladies Home Journal.” Her wholesome, sensitive illustrations have graced over 40 children’s books and hundreds of national magazine articles and covers. Wilcox-Smith also created ads for Cream of Wheat, Campbell’s Soup, the Red Cross and Ivory Soap.

Comments:

When I received my order I was disappointed to see small nicks on two of the mitered corers of the frame. I called customer service, who answered right away. They quickly told me that I could get a new one without having to return the original if I would just send them a picture of the flaws. I took closeups and emailed them right away. I had a brand new, flawless replacement in a few days. I was amazed at the superior level of customer service I received. Sending the flawed product back would have been costly. Even though the flaws were small, they didn't hesitate to replace the original.

This piece is the perfect companion to the same artist's The Senses: Hearing. Having the frames the same and the prints the same size makes the high contrasts of the two prints balance each other. Hearing is very "pale" and Seeing is very "intense." They are contemplative and calming.

Even though I was initially disappointed in the initial workmanship of the frame, I couldn't be more satisfied with the overall experience. I will definitely be using Art.com again and again.
