This stretched canvas print is the result of sophisticated digital printing technology in which the image is printed directly onto an artist-grade, 100% cotton canvas. The canvas is then expertly stretched around 1.5" wooden bars and carefully finished with hand-painted edges. An acrylic coating protects the stunning giclee print from dust, moisture and fading. Watermark will not appear on finished product.

About the Art

Edward Hopper (1882 – 1967) was an American painter known for his melancholy depictions of alienation in everyday life. Eerily realistic, his stark urban and rural scenes are a desolate montage of deserted streets, half-empty theaters, isolated railroad tracks and dreary rooming houses. Originally aspiring to be a Naval architect, Hopper rapidly rose to the status of America’s foremost Realist. Portraying scenes in New York and New England, Hopper underscored their grim nature with sharp lines, large, impersonal shapes, flat expanses of color and hard angles. Although known for his oil paintings, Hopper was also an adept watercolorist and printmaker whose later works shared structural similarities with geometric abstraction.

Plastic vs Glass

By Mg

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Perfect Colors For Room

Cons

  • Plastic Not Glass

Purchase Reason

  • Fill Wall Space

Comments:

Overall looks good, agree with previous that it could be clearer quality. It is framed in plastic cover instead of glass. My mistake should have checked. Overall satisfied but with plastic not glass... Seems I could have recd better deal for price.

Frame itself looks great.

Pretty good

Pros

  • Great Quality Paper
  • Perfect Size

Cons

  • Color A Bit Faded-looking
  • Detail Not Quite Sharp

Purchase Reason

  • Decoration
  • Inspiration

Comments:

Bought to give a feeling of nature, openness and hope in an office where I meet with cancer patients. We all like the sense of freedom and uplifting feel of the piece. I had another print of this with slightly more saturated color and crisper detail but it was damaged; bought this to replace. Both prints are about the same size as the original artwork so I am not sure why the detail should be less crisp; however, it is at enough distance that the sense of the painting is still felt and offers the desired sense of place and space. A bit more color saturation would have been nice but it is still effective enough.
