About the Art

A leading French Post-Impressionist, Paul Cezanne bridged the way from 19th century Impressionism to a revolutionary new world of 20th century Cubism. Both Matisse and Picasso are quoted saying Cezanne was “the father of us all.” Although his radical departures were underappreciated and even ridiculed in his time, Cezanne’s studies of visual perception, geometric simplification, and experimentation with complex fractured forms kept his style changing significantly over his lifetime. Cezanne was an eccentric, solitary enigma, often working in isolation, removed even from his own family.

Size (bxh=470x620mm) works well on wall to side of proud chimney breast, which itself displays Café Terrace (bxh=810x610mm).

    Comments:

The scene depicted is vibrant and beautiful. However, the colors in the print I received are faded and washed out. This is not something I would want to display.

      Comments:

This is a gorgeous painting by Cezanne. I loved the composition and the colors (as viewed online that is) were stunning and vivid. However, when I received the print I was very disappointed. The colors were DRASTICALLY different then what the website displayed. I viewed the print side by side with the website imagine and it does not even look like the same picture. This picture is for my living room, it still works well and I will keep it, but had it been accurately portrayed online, I would not have made this purchase.
