Eugene Burnand (1850 – 1921) was a Swiss painter known for his expressively detailed, insightful artworks. In Geneva, he studied with Barthélemy Menn at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Later he moved to Paris, joining Jéan-Léon Gérôme’s studio, where he primarily painted landscapes. Burnand was highly influenced by Realism, exemplified by his best-known work, “The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection.” This remarkable piece is displayed in the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
