    I love this photograph. It is serene and calming to look at even though it has a bit of a lonely feeling to it. I tend to be drawn to landscapes which have a lonely feeling to them and later don't like them as much because of this, but this is a very beautiful scene of the mountains with the pines set in the lake. It is perfect. I want to be there - maybe I will get there some day. This is one of 3 photographs I have chosen as representing my favorite scenery anywhere on earth. It is really pristine. I think it is in the Canadian Rockies, but no one seems to be able to tell me where it is.

    A photographer for “National Geographic,” Raymond Gehman has traveled the world capturing stunning images which exalt both the astounding and the ordinary in nature and humanity. Gehman, who is a “National Geographic” editor and has been shooting for them for 20 years, was 9 years old when one of the magazine’s photographers visited his school inspiring him to pursue photography. Gehman says photography is special because it expresses everyone’s unique view of the world, and he enjoys depicting “the little weird details.” Residing in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Gehman also lectures and judges photo contests.
