In this gouache, Zelda painted Times Square in New York City at night. Her city scenes of New York and Paris were painted from memory and are romantic evocations of her happiest times with her husband, F Scott Fitzgerald. Zelda often indicated street life with symbols: top hats, umbrellas, caps, wine glasses and gloves. In her cityscapes Zelda creates riotous worlds, sometimes unstable but full of drama and pageantry. Her compositions are reminiscent of stage sets upon which dancers float above the earth. Original size of "Times Square" is 13 1/2" x 17 5/8"
This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
