Many of Zelda's city scenes of New York and Paris were painted from memory and are romantic evocations of her happiest times with her husband, F Scott Fitzgerald. In this gouache, Zelda commemorates her daughter, Scottie's, wedding in 1943 to Ensign Jack Lanahan. Zelda paints Jack in uniform. Scottie is the bride in the foeground. The babies behind her are symbols of their future children. In this cityscape series Zelda creates riotous worlds, sometimes unstable but full of drama and pageantry. Her compositions are reminiscent of stage sets upon which dancers float above the earth. Original size: 13 5/8" x 18 1/4" This premium giclee print, an upgrade from the standard giclee print, is produced on thick (310 gsm), textured watercolor paper made from alpha cellulous wood pulp that is acid free. It shares the same vivid colors, accuracy, and exceptional resolution that make giclee prints the standard for museums and galleries around the world. Giclee (French for 'to spray') is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto a high-quality paper. The smooth transitions of color gradients make giclee prints appear much more realistic than other prints.
