JULIAN BOND - The Reluctant Politician. State Rep. Julian Bond of Atlanta's 11th District gained first national attention when in January 1966, after his victory in a special election that followed reapportionment of the Georgia House, he was refused his House seat for speaking our against America's Vietnam involvement. Bond was seated a year later after a U. S. Supreme Court decision in his favor. He ran again unopposed in the 1968 elections.
