One of the most influential artists of his generation, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) catapulted to fame with his raw graphic fusion of words, cartoons and cultural references. His close friendships with Keith Haring and Andy Warhol and his tragically early death only add intrigue to his brief but brilliant career. Art.com has reached deep into the Basquiat Estate archives to handpick these rare images, many of which are only exhibited in museums. Each piece has been carefully reproduced with our giclée printing process to maximize color accuracy and resolution.

This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface.

Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto a high-quality paper. The smooth transitions of color gradients make giclée prints appear much more realistic than other prints.

The recipient is an artist as well and loved the art piece. He told me it was perfect and looked great. He especially liked how it was mounted. He wants more.

    ABOUT

    • The Print
    • The Artist
One of the most original and influential artists of his generation, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 – 1988) produced deceptively unsophisticated-looking works that belied a complex and unique talent. Born in Brooklyn of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent, Basquiat first gained notoriety with graffiti artwork. He catapulted to fame with paintings that incorporated a fusion of words, symbols, stick figures, animals, and historical and cultural references. Befriended by Andy Warhol, Basquiat collaborated with the renowned Pop Artist on 100 artworks. Despite a career tragically cut short by a heroin overdose, Basquiat introduced the unique African-American and Latino experience to the elite art world.
