Engraved plate depicting plants identified as Polyanthus, Oxalis and Iris from G D Ehret's self published Plantae et Papilione, a collection of 15 hand coloured engravings produced between 1748 and 1759. The Butterflies depicted are probably the species Papilio helenus (Red Helen) a native of India and Southeast Asia.
This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
