About the Art

William Kentridge (1955-) is one of the world’s highest ranking contemporary artists whose art has become very influential since the mid 1990’s. Kentridge’s virtuosity is unmistakable, his visual art spans across traditional media and techniques such as printmaking and drawing, to pioneering short movies, large-scale installations, and theatre performances. William Kentridge's art can perhaps be best described as the art of energetic movement, both subtly and graphically, through social and political issues. It is an evocative fusion of experience, fiction and imagination. Kentridge has achieved distinction in the international art arena and acclaim from critics, academia, art dealers and the public alike. He has won prestigious international awards. In the past two years William Kentridge’s work has been seen at the Metropolitan Opera and MoMA in New York, Jeu de Paume and the Louvre in Paris, La Scala in Milan, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Albertina Museum in Vienna.
