About the Art

Born on family estate at Stonim in north-eastern Poland, Izabella Godlewska de Aranda is an architect, painter and sculptor. After getting an education at Kilgraston, Perthshire, Scotland, she graduates at the Oxford School of Architecture in 1954. She works as architect in London and studies painting under Jozef Pacewicz, 1954-56, then works as architect in Madrid 1956-59. She Married Eduardo Aranda Caranze, a Spanish diplomat, and has two sons and a daughter. Her husband predeceased her as Spanish Ambassador in Finland and Estonia, in 1993. She was awarded the bronze medal at the First Competition of Contemporary Painting staged by Iberia Airlines, 1974. She participated in 'Trajectories' which toured several continents, 1980. "Her paintings are vibrant with colour. They take you on a journey from the figurative into the abstract, through time and space, both physical and spiritual."
