This Signed, Numbered & Titled Graphisculpture is in an edition of 50. Beginning in 1957, this Florentine received international recognition for a unique process he invented for making bas relief engravings. An art critic dubbed these prints “graphisculpture” because the printing plates were composed of a mosaic of various pieces of welded metal. Since Boni used heavy hand-made paper, the metal left indentations of various depths, giving the prints a three-dimensional complexity and animated surface. Boni produced his complex print editions in Paris with the master printer, Robert Dutrou, best known for his twenty-five year collaboration with Miro. Boni has enjoyed more than fifty solo exhibitions worldwide, and his prints are in the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery, the Library of Congress, and many others.
