Documenting the American cultural movement in the second half of the 20th century, Humanist photographer Dennis Stock has won numerous awards for his work. Getting his start with Life magazine, he is responsible for many iconic images, including the arrival of refugees into NY Harbor, exclusive shots of Hollywood stars like James Dean and and blues legends like Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday and, during the 60s, images that recorded the efforts for social change in the hippie movement. Recording magnificent urban settings to his nature and landscape photography, Stock remains an impassioned environmental conservationist to this day. In addition to his photography, Stock is also a writer, director and producer who has created a book or exhibition almost every year since the 1950s.
