About the Art

Claude Monet (1840 – 1926), the founder of Impressionism, was one of the most influential landscape painters in the history of art. Born in Paris, Monet was enrolled in the studio of Glenyre, where he met Renoir, Sisley, and Bazille, who became the core of the Impressionist group. Painting outdoors, he broke the tradition of portraying a subject literally by conveying the fleeting effects of atmosphere, time of day, and season upon color and light. Eliminating black and gray from his palette, he represented natural color like a prism, breaking it down into its individual components, often painting a series of the exact same view under different light and weather conditions. Monet brought the study of the transient effects of natural light to its most refined expression, ultimately becoming a forerunner of 20th century modernism.

This is hanging over the whirlpool tub in my master bathroom. It provides a peaceful, serene feel.

        Comments:

Contacted customer service twice (by chat, then by phone) to find out what Art.com does to prevent the giclee print from being in contact with the glass on framed items. I was told both times that "rabbiting" is used and that the print would not contact the glass. I was reluctant to buy since it was obvious that the customer service people had no idea what rabbiting is, or they would not have stated that answer. The item arrived, the print was in contact with the glass. I called customer service (3rd time) for return, and the person I spoke with checked with his supervisor who then stated "yes, the print will contact the glass". Extremely poor service. While the cost of shipping and the cost of the item were refunded, a lot of my time was wasted dealing with something that should have never happened if the company trained their customer service employees adequately (as in teaching them to get valid information rather than blow-off a customer's question). Art.com apparently does not offer the option of frame spacers; this is not something that I would buy.

beautiful scene- reflects the Florida area I live in, even though it's France.
I guess you could say France in Florida which the gulf coast is like.
