About This Piece
The Art
Cassius Coolidge deals three-of-a-kind with his triple-paneled “Poker Dogs.” These campy, anthropomorphized pooches are part of Coolidge’s nine famous images depicting poker-playing dogs. Their mirth, cast in rich reds, greens and browns, brings classic pool hall style to a den, game room or pub. Groups well with “A Bold Bluff” and “Poker Sympathy.”

This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of color accuracy. A member of the versatile family of art prints, this high-quality reproduction represents the best of both worlds: quality and affordability. Art prints are created on paper similar to that of a postcard or greeting card using a digital or offset lithography press.

The Artist
Best known for his humorous portrayals of anthropomorphized dogs, Cassius Coolidge’s other significant accomplishments include founding a bank, a newspaper, and drug stores. He also invented the life-sized carnivalesque cutout holes for people to insert their faces, instantly transforming them into amusing characters. His 16 dog series was originally created as an emerging advertising strategy to engage customers with “remembrance advertising” done for the ad firm Brown & Bigelow.

Impressive Material
We placed the picture on our dinning room, that converts to a card game room, mainly poker. It simply gives the perfect stage for playing, with the proper low-light and a good frame (I personally recommend a thick black one, it gives the appropriate contrast). For the poker fans, it's a classic!
