About This Piece
The Art
Salvador Dali (1904 – 1989) merges hallucination with reality in his iconic Critical-Paranoiac style in “Swans Reflecting Elephants,” a quintessential Surrealist painting in which mirror images of swans and elephants transform into one another. Dali, who redefined Surrealism, expressed the unconscious process of thought, dreams and perception of reality through idiosyncratic paintings as well as numerous other art forms. Creating a spectrum of imagery from fanciful to nightmarish, he scrutinized the writings of Freud and art magazines devoted to Cubism, Futurism, and metaphysical works.

This versatile and affordable poster delivers sharp, clean images and a high degree of color accuracy. Your poster is printed with an offset lithography press with a coating to protect the inks.

The Artist
Spanish artist Salvador Dali was a groundbreaking icon of the Surrealist movement and one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. His work probed the unconscious world of thoughts, dreams and perception in fanciful and nightmarish images influenced by Freud, Cubism, Futurism and metaphysical art. Extraordinarily imaginative, Dali also sculpted, and contributed to fashion, photography and theater. Nearly photographic, Dali’s art has been called the epitome of Surrealism.
