American realist painter Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009) is called “the painter of the people” because of his popularity and deep sympathy for humanity and the struggles of life. Tutored by his father who was an artist, Wyeth had his first one-man exhibition at age 20. When his father died in a tragic accident, his work was forged in to what became his signature style, characterized by a subdued palette, highly realistic figures and depictions of symbolic, emotionally fraught objects. Despite the controversy his art generated when its realistic style conflicted with the 20th century’s abstract art trends, it was still featured in numerous magazines, calendars, posters and murals, and in the first one-man exhibition at the White House.

Comments:
We have hung this print in one of our guest rooms. As the owners of several Labrador retrievers who love a soft spot to rest this is truly an example of art imitating our life. The muted shades of this picture are subtly calming and engaging. Viewing this print always makes me smile!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I do like the wood type backboard instead of a frame, however the detail wasn't as good as I have seen this reproduction before. Also, although I knew it was small, I didn't think it would be quite this small. Love the picture though.

Daughter In Law Approved; No Small Feat!

Comments:
It's hard when you can't see and touch the considered object in person; is it quality or does it feel or look cheap? I hadn't personally seen a print mounted on board before. It sounded good but would it be?
The mounted Wyeth print I selected surpassed my expectation and thrilled my daughter in law who was it's recipient. She's a fussy girl! We both will be making future orders and most likely will opt to have several of them mounted again too.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
