St. Sebastian, c.1459 (tempera on panel), Mantegna, Andrea (1431-1506) / Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria / Ali Meyer / The Bridgeman Art Library This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.

About the Art

Andrea Mantegna was an Italian painter, a student of Roman archeology, and son-in-law of Jacopo Bellini. Like other artists of the time, Mantegna experimented with perspective. His flinty, metallic landscapes and somewhat stony figures demonstrate a sculptural approach to painting. Mantegna also owned a workshop that was Venice's leading producer of prints.
