Stephanie Gardner’s highly textural, complex abstracts are part artistry and part sorcery, distilled from secret potions of her own conjuring. A former chemistry student, Gardner mixes her own paint in sheer blues, clay-thick silvers and ambers like ancient tree sap, rendering the material as intriguing as her compositions. Gardner also has degrees in photography and painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her works contain multiple layers of pigment that reveal hidden patterns emanating from other patterns. Gardner’s multifaceted paintings are collected by museum board directors, politicians, Fortune 500 CEOs and A-list Hollywood celebrities.
