About This Piece
The Art
Dogs make the headlines, and headlines make the dogs in Karen Dupré’s “Paper Trained IV,” part of a whimsically clever series of six canine portraits. A self-taught artist, Dupré began painting at age 9. She initially painted images of horses and wildlife, and later broadened her creative scope to include haute-couture figures, abstracts, cityscapes and entertainment scenes. Dupré is particularly gifted in her ability to portray the play of light in both nature and man-made objects. Influenced by 19th-century painters who redefined artistic norms, Dupré challenges herself to do the same in her versatile artworks.

This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of color accuracy. A member of the versatile family of art prints, this high-quality reproduction represents the best of both worlds: quality and affordability. Art prints are created on paper similar to that of a postcard or greeting card using a digital or offset lithography press.

The Artist
Karen Dupré works in a myriad of styles, all of which share the common threads of talent and creativity. Originally from California, Dupré is a self-taught artist who began painting at age 9. Initially inspired by her love of horses, she later painted haute-couture figures, abstracts, idyllic nature scenes, cityscapes and still lifes. She excels at portraying the play of light in both nature and man-made objects. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century painters Klimt, Monet, Remington and Renoir, who reshaped artistic ideals, Dupré aspires to do the same with her diverse styles.
