About This Piece
The Art
PosterbrEdition of brbrPoster from an exhibition titled Watercolors and Collages at the Sheldon Ross Gallery Birmingham Michigan Condition A mint

Collectable prints are rare and unique works of art - from original pre-war advertisement posters, to contemporary exhibitions prints, to out-of-print and hard to find gems. Although not signed or numbered like a limited edition, they often appreciate in value over time due to their rarity and age. Because of the unique history of each item, collectable prints may show minor signs of handling, aging, or original print defects. Unless otherwise noted, each print is guaranteed to be in very good condition or better.
The Artist
Romare Bearden (1911 – 1988) was an exceptionally gifted African-American collage artist who strove to universalize the African-American experience in a signature style derived from Cubism. Growing up in Harlem, Bearden was strongly influenced by its thriving jazz scene, and his works exuberantly echo the music’s improvisational form. Bearden’s artwork expressed themes of ritual, music and family, and his broad talents included writing, songwriting, book illustration, theater design and humanitarianism. Bearden created an astounding 2,000 works in his lifetime, and is regarded as one of the preeminent African-American artists of the 20th century.
