About This Piece
The Art
Original work was Acrylic and oilstick on canvas x cmbrbrOne of the most influential artists of his generation JeanMichel Basquiat catapulted to fame with his raw graphic fusion of words cartoons and cultural references His close friendships with Keith Haring and Andy Warhol and his tragically early death only add intrigue to his brief but brilliant career Artcom has reached deep into the Basquiat Estate archives to handpick these rare images many of which are only exhibited in museums Each piece has been carefully reproduced with our giclee printing process to maximize color accuracy and resolution

In UNTITLED, 1981, Neo-Expressionist and Pop-culture sensation Jean-Michel Basquiat pairs a primitive painting style with a poetic narrative. The result is a striking and provocative commentary on the chaos of 1980s culture.

This giclée print delivers a vivid image with maximum color accuracy and exceptional resolution. The standard for museums and galleries around the world, giclée is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are “sprayed” onto high-quality paper. With the great degree of detail and smooth transitions of color gradients, giclée prints appear much more realistic than other reproduction prints. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is acid free with a smooth surface.

The Artist
One of the most original and influential artists of his generation, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 – 1988) produced deceptively unsophisticated-looking works that belied a complex and unique talent. Born in Brooklyn of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent, Basquiat first gained notoriety with graffiti artwork. He catapulted to fame with paintings that incorporated a fusion of words, symbols, stick figures, animals, and historical and cultural references. Befriended by Andy Warhol, Basquiat collaborated with the renowned Pop Artist on 100 artworks. Despite a career tragically cut short by a heroin overdose, Basquiat introduced the unique African-American and Latino experience to the elite art world.
