About This Piece
The Art
To create this stretched canvas print, your image is printed directly onto an artist-grade cotton canvas and expertly stretched around 1.5" wooden bars. An acrylic coating protects the high-quality giclée print from dust, moisture and fading. Finished with hand-painted edges, this stretched canvas print provides an artistic look with depth and texture.

The Artist
Maritime photographer Jean Guichard, famous for his dramatic lighthouse photos, discovered the sea’s savage beauty while sailing through Atlantic and Arctic waters with the French Navy in 1970. Originally a photojournalist whose international news coverage appeared in numerous respected publications, Guichard became fascinated with photographing lighthouses and the isolated keepers who brave the ocean’s ferocity. He is best known for his spectacular photos of a lighthouse and its keeper about to be engulfed by a towering wave. Many of his unforgettable lighthouse photos were taken in 1989 and 1990, when one of the most violent storms in history lashed the northern coast of France.
