Pen and ink wash on paper of Abutilon theophrasti by Claude Aubriet. Identified as Abutelon dod Pemp by the artist. Aubriet was born at Chalons-sur-Marne, France in 1665. In 1700 he travelled to the Levant with Tournefort and on his return became a painter at the Jardin du Roi. This work forms part of a collection of drawings for a book by Antoine Jussieu which was not published. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
