To create this stretched canvas print, your image is printed directly onto an artist-grade cotton canvas and expertly stretched around 1.5" wooden bars. An acrylic coating protects the high-quality giclée print from dust, moisture and fading. Finished with hand-painted edges, this stretched canvas print provides an artistic look with depth and texture.

The Artist
Gothic Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) puts anti-Classical emphasis on experience. Combining the Germanic influences of literature, music and nature as well as politics and religion he presents them allegorically as a force for cultural change. Born in Swedish Pomerania, Friedrich’s darkly enchanting, mystical work was viewed as a shocking breakthrough, bordering on expressionistic confrontation that remains strikingly relevant now. Prussian and Russian royalty often purchased his art, loving its strong, wistful appeal for escape, adventure, and possibility.

Superb. We just love this picture!
I saw this painting at an exhibition in Paris a few years ago and thought it to e wonderful. I always wanted to have the image but never had the right location. On moving to Hungary we bought a 110 year old restored Post Office. We now had the opportunity to display the image in the right environment on a large white wall where it has impact without overpowering the room which has wonderful old wood, brick and white plaster. In keeping the room relatively simple the largeness of the image, it's wistful and enigmatic theme and the absence of a frame made it perfect. We love it! Putting the frame and canvas together was not simple but the instructions were clear and the parts appropriate. There is a slight warp to new side of the frame but nothing that is a major issue.
